We’re heading to Germany this week for a special four city sneak preview of Beautiful Losers! Aaron Rose will be introducing the film in Hamburg and Berlin! Erland of KJEFT A! really made it happen in bringing a one time screening of BEAUTIFUL LOSERS to Oslo’s Cinemateket. Fans emailed over the weekend sad that it was sold out and they couldn’t cop tickets. ENJOY TONIGHT!

Tidlig på 1990-tallet traff en gruppe likesinnede hverandre i et lite galleri i New York City. Med forankring i subkulturer som skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop og graffiti, subkulturer der ”gjør det selv”-mentaliteten er sterk, lagde de kunst som reflekterte måten de levde livene sine på. Nærmest uten påvirkning fra den etablerte og skolerte kunstscenen har denne gruppa, og subkulturene de vokste opp ifra, i løpet av de siste tiårene omformet og revolusjonert populærkulturen. Beautiful Losers portretterer et utvalg sentrale aktører. Den tematiserer hva som skjer når outsideren skaper trendene, når subkulturen blir popkulturen, og utforsker artistenes påvirkning på dagens ungdom.

Beautiful Losers presenteres av Kjeft a! i samarbeid med Cinemateket. Kjeft a! er navnet på et norsk ”gjør det selv”-kollektiv. Gruppa driver kulturportalen www.kjefta.org, og har avholdt en rekke kunst-, design- og kulturprosjekter.
